We were asked to undertake a series of focus group studies and user testing workshops for Visit Somerset in order to inform the design and structure of their Destination Management Website.
Visit Somerset wanted to get a clear picture of user's hierarchy of needs, and the extent to which their current site - and other similar DMWs - met these needs.
Our work was to feed into the re-design of the website, planned for 2010.
Using controlled user testing studies, focus groups and heuristic evaluation we created a detailed report highlighting the wants and needs of a number of key demographic groups for DMWs.
We produced a series of recommendations on the future development of the Visit Somerset website, including the display of key information, layout of accommodation pages, search priorities, homepage design and information architecture.
The report was presented to Visit Somerset and all key recommendations are currently being integrated into the ongoing redevlopment of the website.
